Jewellery Fixing Question?

I'm fixing a vintage rhinestone bracelet, and the settings are linked by those tiny metal capital "I" shaped links that allows the bracelet movement... I have one, but I can't get it into the tiny slots of the rhinestone's settings. Is there a secret to it?

there are a couple of tools that can help out. The bezel tool helps with controling the prongs. There is also a special tool just for setting the prongs. (I can't remember it's specific name right now)
