I have a vintage gold-tone stratton compact with engraved initials HMS, could it have been owned by royalty?
initials on front of compact and back is littered in stars - logo of company engraved inside - made in England
Incredibly unlikely I'm afraid.
HMS or Her Majesty's Ship, is the prefix for a vessel of the Royal Navy and would always be followed by a name, such as "HMS Victory"
Personal items would be inscribed (if at all) with the cypher or coat of arms of the owner.
