The Gracious Bride Shows Gratitude
A wedding doesn't just throw itself, and by the time your special day rolls around, there will be numerous people who have helped to make your wedding special. It could be the vendors who worked overtime for you, your friends who helped make the centerpieces, or your mother-in-law who made homemade wedding favors. A gracious bride always shows her gratitude, and these are some lovely ways to thank all the people who played a part in your wedding.
Fortunate brides and grooms may find that their loved ones want to make something or do something for their wedding. Maybe your fiance's co-worker videotaped the whole wedding ceremony at no charge. Or perhaps your cousin did the calligraphy on your wedding invitations. Do remember to say "Merci" for their efforts! A heartfelt thank you is the first step. Treat your pal to a luxurious afternoon at a salon getting pampered. Items such as flowers, silk scarves, or hardcover books about weddings are special ways to say thanks. Tailor the gift to the interests of the recipient.
For those family members or friends who have selflessly contributed their efforts to your wedding, it would also be a very nice gesture to thank them in the wedding programs. It is nice to put a list in the back of the wedding program to name those who helped you out. An example would be: “Thanks to Aunt Lisa who made my beautiful bridal veil." It is important not to leave anyone out, lest they feel insulted. Include your bridal party and parents in the thank you section, because you couldn't have done it without them.
Speaking of bridesmaids, they are often the people who do the most for the bride. Your friends spend countless hours doing things for your big day. There are the Saturdays given up to shop for bridesmaid jewelry and dresses. They stay up half the night putting together programs and making paper pom poms. These ladies do a lot! Be sure that you thank them with special gifts of bridesmaid jewelry and a heartfelt note of appreciation. Tasteful brides will often have a special luncheon in honor of their attendants.
While you are planning your dream wedding, there will be those special wedding vendors who really exceed your expectations. They should be thanked as well. Brides often like to give something special to their wedding dress seamstress. Give a bottle of wine to your hairstylist who patiently did hair trial after hair trial until you finally found a wedding hairstyle that you loved. Your wedding coordinator will likely be worthy of some special appreciation. Certainly most people are happy to receive a little cash bonus, but don't overlook the value of a powerful letter of recommendation that they can use to gain future clients.
Last but not least, remember to thank your parents for all that they have done for you. A gourmet fruit basket with a great bottle of wine is a lovely way to let your parents know you were thinking of them. How wonderful it is to show your appreciation for everyone who put their hearts into your wedding.
