I need a bit of help, just a little question...?

I've decided to wear plum eyeliner, subtle but still more feminine and floral than typical black. A thin line I might add. I bought a pale pink lipstick to go with it. Though when I apply the lipstick, the pale pink looks strange with my mid tone rose lips, I made sure I didn't buy a sheer lipstick. Are there any ways to make the base (lip, whatever) more appropriate for a lipstick shade farther from your natural shade? If you thinks it's the lipsticks problem, could you reconmend a pale pink lipstick, cream finish, and drugstore brand? (or sally beauty supply) I have full lips so a glossy finish isn't neccessary, just well moisturized. Please and thankyou!
I bought "Pink Grpefruit" Sazzy lipstick from Sally beauty supply. Just thought to let you know.
I meant Pink Grapefruit" and Savvy, not Sazzy

you can use a nude lipliner over the lip before you apply the lipstick to make a more even shaded base. If this doesn't work use Savvy lipstick from Sally's their colors are great.
