One or three stone engagement ring?

My boyfriend and I have already decided we want to get married. He told me he is getting me a 1 ct. diamond ring. I can't decide if I want a solitaire or three stones. What are you guys' opinions?
Also, is it weird that I like yellow gold? All my friends keep saying I should go with white.

The three stone ring in my opinion is way overdone, you see it a lot, I understand that the stones are supposed to represent the past, the present and the future which is nice, but I just think to many people have them right now and I wanted my ring to be a little more special then that. I also didn't want a ring that fit a certain time period, as in it's popular now but will it be in the future? In case I want to pass my ring on to family later in life I want it to be timeless and elegant.

Also a deciding factor would be the fact that he's going to get you a 1 carat diamond ring, if you go with the three stones that means that your center stone is going to be much smaller because the two side stones will be taking up some of the carat weight. I would suggest that you go to a jewelery store and try on some rings, see what looks good on your hand, you may like the look of the three stones but maybe not once it's on your hand, so go explore and see what style of ring you like. Shape may also make a difference to you, round or square or pear etc. Don't limit yourself either try on everything you might be surprised at what you find you like best.

As for the gold, no it's not weird that you like yellow gold, tons of people wear yellow gold. Just make sure he gets you at least 18K or higher because you want a good quality yellow gold so it will keep it's shine and not dull. Plus wearing yellow gold and white together is very popular you can mix and match the two. So if you were worried about wearing silver jewelery with the gold ring it's not a problem, they go well together. I wouldn't be worried about what anyone else thought in terms of that. It's going to be on your hand the rest of your life and you're the one who's going to have to look down and love it, so go with your gut on that! Good Luck!!!
