Why does spinning a necklace (chain) around make it cold?

When you spin a necklace with a large enough diameter, it gets VERY cold. Why?

If the chain has thermalized with the environment, then spinning it would not cause its temperature to change at all.

The amount of heat transfered by convection goes like h (T - T_ambient). Spinning causes h > 0, so (T - T_ambient) must be the relevant measure.

If T(necklace) = T_ambient, then heat transfered by convection = zero.

However, if the necklace was initially thermalized to body temperature (as a result of being worn), then T(necklace) = T_body > T_ambient.

The temperature of the necklace will drop as heat is lost to the environment by convection as it is spun. The temperature of the necklace will drop from T_body until T(necklace) = T_ambient, at which point its temperature will remain stable/constant.
