choking risks for babies?
Hello, I am the mother of an almost 1 year old boy. One of my big fears is choking. I tend to see raised eybrows or hear comments if I cut his blueberries in half, don't let him have dried raisins (he's got teeth, doesn't he?), or take toys away from him that are meant for older children due to small parts (matchbox cars for example) or worry about him picking up dried cat food (don't worry darling, he'll be fine) ... sometimes it annoys me that I have to explain to people that choking isn't an inability to swallow these bits, but to get them in the windpipe by accident. Are most people just too relaxed or uninformed or am I just being an overcautious freak? I just thought it was common sense...I don't like leaving my baby with his granny who is of the 'relaxed kind' (in my opinion bordering irresponsible- preferably giving him a glass-bead necklace to chew on, dismissing my concerns), because I worry myself silly. Please help
