How can you tell if a gem stone is fake, or tumble stone?
I just bought some stones online but I want to know if there is a way you can tell if they are the real deal.
I bought tumble stones only.
Beauty, Durability , and rarity, these are three cardinal virtues which makes any stone /mineral a gem stone. a total separate branch of petrology called Gemology is developed which has nicely cataloged various properties of each gemstone , hence you can understand ,it is not a single criteria which you can apply for all gemstones. The major criteria for identification of gemstone from fake is , refractive index, hardness, sp. Gr. lusture, fire , impurities, and crystal structure.
