Can I remove earrings from newly pierced ears for an hour or 2?

My daughter plays basketball. She conveniently forgot this when she pierced her ears. She has had them in for the just over 2 weeks and her summer game schedule is getting ready to start. She has been told she cannot were the earrings during the game which I understand. Will it be ok if we remove her earrings for 1 to 2 hours? We can cover her earlobes in ointment during the game and then after the game immediately clean and put the earrings back in? Does anyone have experience with this?

If she does that, they are more likely to close. You have to give them about a month to a month and a half to heal.
