Women's Gifts: Bracelets Are Generally Appropriate
The back story regarding bracelets is cloaked in mystery. Chinese bracelets of this era were very detailed with images of animals, real and imagined, such as dragons and phoenixes. The pearl bracelet also has its origins in ancient China because quality pearls were abundant there. From primeval times to modern times, China has remained the pearl and jade capital of the world. The Chinese also initiated the utilization of glass in bracelets. India, in the meantime, became a trendsetter in bangle bracelets. Bracelets in the 1700s and 1800s
Chain bracelets appeared in the 18th century, with Paris becoming the centre of jewellery trends. Gold was the favoured material and opaque gemstones such as coral were well-liked. The convention of wearing multiple bracelets on one wrist came about at this time. There also was a restoration of elaborate Byzantine styles. Also making an appearance was jewellery made from fine gold or silver mesh. In the 19th century, the Victorian influence led to jewels designed with sentimental value.
