spray painting silver costume jewelry gold?

I have a spoon ring that I wear on my thumb, I love it but it doesn't match with my other jewelry-I wear gold daily. Can I spray paint my ring gold? I want to know if painting it would mess it up or be dangerous to wear. And can anyone suggest a good brand of jewelry spray paint that wont rub off & where to find it.

I would just buy another spoon ring in gold, but I haven't been able to find one anywhere, I think their only made in silver

The image is not coming up. I don't think any form of paint would hold up to daily wear.

Have you considered plating it? It would be more expensive, but would hold up better. Liquid plating dips are available, and pretty easy to use. The main things to remember are to clean the ring of old paint and build up first, and to move the tweezer grip so the plating matter comes into contact with the entire surface of the ring.
