Historic badge identification?
I have a lapel badge that belonged to my great grandfather which i cannot identify. The badge is coloured enamel approx 1.5inches long and 1 inch high. at the bottom is has 2 flag one is the union jack and the other consists of 2 horizontal stripes white at top red at bottom with a full height eagle in the centre. at the top of the badge running in a semi circle are the initials B.A.P.S on a red background. I assume that the badge probably dates from around the time of the second world war or possibly earlier (g grandfather was born in the uk in1897). On the back is what i assmue is that makers name "Patterson & sons LTD Bradford works Birmingham"
can anyone identify this curious badge for me. will happily send an image to anyone who can postively identify this.
Well the flag sounds like the Polish Flag during WWII. And as Britain went to war to defend Poland it would make sense.
I would guess the B stands for Britain or British...and the P stands for Poland or Polish.
S for society perhaps?
Do some research on those terms and see what you come up with
