A Guide to Buying the Perfect Diamond Engagement Ring
Selecting an engagement ring can be hard. One of the hardest things to choose is the stones and if you are selecting more than one stone how these should be mixed. A solitaire diamond is traditionally given as an engagement ring, but so too are clusters.
If you're choosing a cluster you options are to have a stone of your choosing surrounded by diamonds.
In a few cases the middle stone is also a diamond, but this isn't as common.
If you are going for the solitaire style ring you will have masses of choices to make. Firstly you want to think about the size of the diamond.
There are 3 important areas to consider when you decided on the dimensions of your diamond; how frequently will the ring be worn and what is going to be a practical size, the dimensions of the hand that will be wearing it, and finally how much you wish to spend?
Most people will wear their engagement rings every day but probably not for all activities. For example it will be removed for swimming or housework. As a general rule, the bigger and more prominent the diamond sits from the band the more it will interfere in day-to-day activities and be moved. This is one of the explanations why 2 carat diamond engagement rings are so amazingly popular. The diamond is sufficiently large to be striking and pretty, but still a practical size.
The other complicated thing, is making absolutely sure that the diamond will look nice on the wearer. Just as everybody has different faces, so they have different hands. Not simply the skin tone is dissimilar, but also the length of the fingers and the proportion of the hands. It's critical to bear this is mind when choosing the setting and design on an engagement ring.
The cut of a 2 carat diamond will impact how it looks dramatically. The most popular cuts are the princess cut and the round cut. Both of these make great solitaires. If you're going for a rather more complicated band then the round cut tends to be the slightly more popular choice as it is easier to have smaller round diamonds to match added either side of the main diamond or inserted in the band of the ring.
Whatever the fashions, you may be certain that a 2 carat diamond engagement ring will be well received by any bride to be. For the more intrepid you can always find loose diamonds for sale which can on occasion be set in a unique band.
