Help! Parakeets fighting?
We have two parakeets we have owned for more than a year. They've always lived together in the same cage. They've had a few squabbles at feeding time, but separate dishes took care of that problem, until today. Today one of the birds pinned the other on the cage floor. He was biting her to the extent that when I lifted him out of the cage, he held on to her (she was lying on her back) and she ended up coming out of the cage too. They weren't mating. I kept them apart for a while, then put them back in the cage together, and they ended up cuddling like usual.
Should I separate them permanently? I am afraid that one of them will end up killing the other, some time when I'm not home to intervene in their fight.
this method is very common.
try get another cage if possible...
METHOD:
put the cages 2 meter apart.
now every day put the cages closer by 20 cm.
a day after the cages touch,
put the budgies together again.
hope this works.
